When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

I sorta realized that, while I generally do a semi-cartoonish style of drawing, I've never really practiced cell shading for a long time. So I thought I would try it out; after all, some of the best colorists I know are exclusively cell shaders. I will probably do this for a while.

.. also what exactly is cell shading?? -- |S|H|O|P|L|I|F|T|I|N|G| --- My anti-drug "ive humped some guys leg before. i thought it would be funny. it was. x3" ~hillbillyinablimp Wow, you actually put a pouch there! It's not often that you see a fem roo anthro with an actual pouch. Very nice! I think that adds a bit of... "character...?" Or should I just stick with "realism?"
IN anycase, amazing artwork as usual, Rick! -- I'm more of a musician than an artist. I play the ocarina! [link] 001 0001 1111 00001 11101 010101... |

I feel like while this piece of art is well made, the coloring looks a little too complex to look like 100% cel shading, yet it isn't 100% realistic, so it hits this middle ground, that, from a distance can create one perspective that can change as you take a step or two closer. It's like staring at an optical illusion you know doesn't exist.
On the same note of dual confusion, it seems like you were going for two different styles of fur, one poofy and full (in those areas with the spotted shading), and the other stringy and smooth (everywhere else). Also, this seems like one of those pictures where you should've went with no background, or a background that fully 'stylistically agrees' (I don't know if that's the correct artist jargon, but I hope you catch my drift.)
I may have a little bias towards this, given my name, but overall, the composition looks nice, and it's a pretty well done piece as a whole. I can't wait to see what improvements your next work contains.
The first thing that caught my eye about the shading was the dappled light/shading along her right thigh and near her right armpit. That's a nice touch to indicate fur, but it seems slightly off somehow, particularly around the armpit. It makes it seem like the fur on her arm (ostensibly casting the shadow) has holes in it or is particularly fluffy, but the line art doesn't indicate this.
Also, different parts of her body seem to be getting light from different angles. Her left ear suggests a light source that is to her right and forward a bit (left of viewer), as does the lighting on her pouch, but her right arm indicates a light to her left (right of the viewer), and her tail suggests light from above or behind.
The shading on the hair and in her right ear and chestfur is pretty good, and I also like the shading around her halter top (though depending on the lighting direction, there might need to be more light on her right side). The shading near the folds of her right side above her waist seems a bit exaggerated.
Overall I like it, but then again, I'm a sucker for roos, especially hot ones.
