The poll again in case you missed it rickgriffin.deviantart.com/j..…
And said example pic fav.me/d66v3e8

The thing I'm generally getting is there are quite a few people who consider my work a "safe spot". And I get that, I really do appreciate the fact that I can make the kind of artwork that can be shared with everyone, and not just furries.

But I have to ask, how are the following artworks completely "safe" in that regard?

Aside from the fact that not having nipples or genitals tends to allow plausible denial as to whether or not a picture is sexual, and in some/most cases their nonpresence might take the "edge" off (I'm not necessarily saying any of these pictures would be BETTER for being more naked or having nipples/genitals) they're still of the degree that it's a display of the human body (with animal heads and features). So I'm just wondering what makes this more/less safe than my example pic, which has nipples present but is not even remotely as pinuppy as some of my PG-rated nudes?

(As for the question proper I still think I'm leaning toward keeping most of my pinups in PG-13 territory but allowing myself the option of nudity if a picture seriously calls for it)

To begin, you've made an amazing name for yourself as probably the only significant furry artist to not draw porn. That's a good reputation to be proud of.

In regards to nudity vs porn. Every artist has to deal with this issue. Based on how that poll was questioned, you are probably worried that you will lose some viewers due to a more adult stance, but also you're probably worried that you will receive requests for very adult art. Viewers will constantly push the boundaries of adult and mature.

My first question to ask would be, what do you want to draw? I mean, simply the fact that you are questioning this topic probably means you would like to draw what I would consider "cute" nudity. Where the situation is innocent and requires a bit of tasteful nudity.

If you personally would like to draw "cute" nudity, then by all means don't worry about how many viewers you'll lose, your reputation is already very solid. There will always be people who disagree, no matter what your stance is.

In relation to your current question as to whether "Disney" nudity is okay. First off it's been done before. You don't have to be politically correct and draw pants on everything, especially anthros. Second, it's a bit confusing I'll admit. Simply having them naked doesn't mean much of anything unless they are in a compromising situation as well. For example the swimming picture eluded to a bit more sexuality than the others. It is possible to go over that imaginary line from time to time. I am not saying don't draw "Disney" furs, but also don't put them into compromising situations. I believe this would be consistent with your reputation.

Lastly one criticism. The poll had many ways in which to say no, but only one way in which to say yes. Viewers who wanted to say, "I think it would be great if you drew tasteful nudity" were absorbed into the category of "Please draw me porn". Most viewers would have a hard time check marking the "I crave lusty bodies and will probably bug you to make my fetishes manifest/attempt to RP with your characters in-comment" box.

Also, you posted this during the middle of the week. I have no idea what kind of people who would typically respond during the week, but it is significantly different than on weekends. Just keep that in mind.

You're doing very well, just keep up the great work!
